This is a thread to prepare and discuss the upcoming MdM migration to new server. The main challange, MdM will have new URL address. so all link, bookmark, blogroll will be broken.

general steps

1. prepare the new place
-template
-categories (proper, interfacing with technorati, and old article recovery)
-blogroll category and all sidebar items

We will be using dual archive method. the blogspot will permanently exist as archive albeit not updated. It's template will have big notification to new address.

2. search engines re-registering
-HM, elbow
-others (MdM has tons of smaller more obscure one. need the list)

3. Bookmark
- telling people to change their bookmark to new place
- staff blogger.com profile page must contain pointer to new address.

4. Blogroll
-the top 20 or so, probably better off handled by Moka personally
-smaller blogs

5. develop early contents in new place to fix all broken link, digging google, etc.

The first few weeks of new place also need to be dedicated to make people feel it's new place and moving links and spread the word.

next several month, there need to be content building to make google index better. (that mean no broken links, text and picture inside a post,...all SEO tricks)

K, need to check up new template also, probably will go with altered kubrick at the begginning since it's one of the easiest to use but I want to change it afterwards to something more personal. Should we stick to the same colors as on the old address or something else?
